Young Voices Event- Thursday 9th February 2017 for the School Choir (Years 4,5,6)
We are looking forward to our annual Young Voices Event. The choir have been working hard since October 2016. Providing children with the opportunity to perform in some of the world’s greatest arenas alongside incredible artists has a massive impact on the children involved. Furthermore, to achieve this with all their school friends around them for support, helps their self-belief, confidence and ability to communicate as part of a team, which is invaluable. Add to this the numerous health benefits of consistent singing in rehearsals, from breathing regulation to relieving stress and it’s no wonder that Young Voices is over-subscribed year after year. One of the highlights of the whole process is to see the pride that the children have in their own performance, and this is further amplified when their parents are able to share the experience as part of the audience. There is a massive sense of achievement gained from rehearsing over so many months and finally able performing in some of the world’s largest arenas.
13:30 – Choirs arrive at the arena and the teacher in charge will lead their choir to their seats. Stewards will be available to assist.
14:15 – Rehearsal will start (late choirs will miss warm-ups and any announcements).
17:00 – Rehearsal will end and children can take a 1-hour tea break. NO glass bottles are permitted in the arena. Children must not leave the arena building.
18:00 – Children must be back in their designated seats ready for the audience to arrive. Jumpers to be removed, phones turned off, and white shirts must be on by this time.
19:00 – Concert Begins!
21:15 – Concert ends.
10.00- Children return to school.
Children need to wear a white t-shirt (if a Young Voices one has not been purchased) and school trousers/leggings plus school jumper. Please provide a disposable packed tea.
The next day, the children are permitted to arrive at school late. Please be in school by 12 noon.
Year 4 Music Lessons. The Arts Council have awarded a grant to schools for a ten-week programme, to teach Year 4 brass/woodwind instruments. The children had their first experience this week. I look forward to seeing how they progress.

NSPCC Event for Parents- Thursday 23rd March, 2pm
To children, online life is real life. There is no real difference between the people they speak to on social media and their friends in school. Families often think they know exactly what their children get up to online, and that they understand all the apps and sites their children use.
I have arranged for the NSPCC to come into school on Thursday 23rd March, at 2pm to talk to parents. To register your place please go to https://lowerpeover.parentseveningsystem.co.uk This is a free event.
Thank you to everyone who has completed the online survey. The survey results are now on the school website.
