Assessments without levels
It is lovely to see how well the children have settled back in to school. Mrs Burchell and I attended a very useful course this week on ‘assessment without levels’. It certainly created a large amount of discussion around the removal of National Curriculum levels. I also attended the first day of an inspection skills training course which will lead up to a teaching and learning review of the school in May 2016.
Reception stay and play
Thank you to all the Reception parents who joined us on Monday afternoon. There were certainly some interesting woodland creatures created out of leaves and twigs.
It is useful for the children to have two PE kits, one for indoor PE and one for outdoor PE, especially as the weather is getting colder. The outdoor PE kit consists of blue track suit trousers, polo top and blue jacket. They can be purchased via the website, or any other suppliers.
School Council – Non uniform day
On Wednesday 20th January the ‘school council’ is holding a non-uniform day for £1 to purchase playground equipment.
Year 6 SATS meeting
On Wednesday 20th January at 2.30 Mrs Perry will be leading a meeting on the changes to the Year 6 SATS. The meeting will be very informative and useful for preparation for the new testing arrangements.
Year 6 Maths booster group
A letter has been sent out to all the Year 6 parents/ carers. Please could you return your slip to school asap so we can arrange the maths groupings for next Thursday. If you don’t wish your child to attend the additional lessons please could you let us know. Thank you.
