School Newsletter – 18 Dec 2015

So we have come to the end of a long but productive Autumn Term and I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for their support and to welcome Mrs Dean back in the New Year.
Quite a few events have taken place since the last newsletter

Christmas Fair

Once again this was a huge success and raised a lot of money for our school. We are now able to purchase another touch screen TV (they have been a great hit with the children and an excellent educational tool for teachers) and this will be fitted in the New Year.

Our thanks go to the FLPS committee who organised the event and to parents and staff who gave up their time to run stalls etc.

Sporting/Musical Events

We have taken part in two sporting events during the last three weeks, a swimming gala where Daniel, Robert and Matilda (Y5) made the finals and Y5/6 had their Bocca tournament.

We entered two teams who both performed well but one of our teams, Luca, Teigan (Y5) and Isabel and George (Y6) won and were presented with medals.

Very well done to all who represented our school.

Year 5 also entertained us with a concert to show us what they had learned during their Wider Opportunities Music session s this term. They performed very well and it was amazing to see how far they had come in such a short space of time.

Poetry Day

KS2 enjoyed an excellent day with a visiting poet Matt Goodfellow, who performed his work for the children and then did a workshop with each year group. There was then a Sharing Assembly at the end of the day which was a great success and much enjoyed by the children.

Performances

There have been three of these in the run up to Christmas and I am sure that you will agree they have been excellent. Many thanks to staff for all their hard work and creative flair, to parents for their support, and most especially the children who once again showed us their considerable talents and abilities.
