It already seems as though we have been back to school for longer than 2 weeks! The children have settled into school easily and there is the usual buzz of learning throughout the school.
On Monday, I will be sending home a letter about FLPS and fundraising for this year, I would be grateful if you could return the reply slip to me as soon as possible. It will be coming home via the children, as well as an email.
Donations to School Fund
At this time of the year we always ask for donations to the school fund. This is used to directly benefit your children in terms of resources. Following analysis of our end of year data we are looking at specific areas to target during 2013-14. Mrs Wilson is keen to purchase block play’ for the Reception class (and would be used throughout Key Stage 1) This resource has a proven record in raising the standard of writing for boys and girls. To obtain a full set would cost the school £5,000. In addition we aim to provide resources for the remainder of the school to enhance the development of ‘spelling, punctuation and grammar’ (spag) the latest Government focus.( approx. £2,000).
I am hoping that most families in school will make a donation towards these specific items. If you wish to help your child’s education there is a facility to make a donation via parentpay, either as a one off payment, or whenever you feel you can make a donation. If you have completed a ‘gift aid’ form we will also claim the tax refund.
Matt Cooper is still on his cycle ride to raise money for the ‘autistic society’. Money raised will directly benefit school in terms of training for staff and we wish him well as he continues his journey.
